problem opening folders

When I double click on a folder the search window opens. To open the folder I have to right click and chose "open". Can any one tell me how I can get my folders to open when I double click on them again?

I  eventually found the answer in Microsoft Knowledge base Article ID: 321186. Just in case any one is having the same problem.

Graduate (if you really are a graduate), you'll want to learn how to find an MS KB article. Go to the Microsoft Support site (http://support.microsoft.com/), enter the number of the article, in this case 321186, then hit enter. You should be provided a link to get to that article.

Alternately, go to Google and search for something like MS support 321186, and click I'm Feeling Lucky, and you'll end up in the same place.
