I have a brand new XPS 410 that came with Windows Vista Ultimate preinstalled. I have been successful in getting almost every application I was using running on this machine. The one I am having the most problems with is Quicken. After the installation, when I try to run the program a dialog box pops up with: ----- Runtime Error! Program: C:\Program Files\Quicken\qw.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. ----- I contacted Intuit who, although they advertise the program as being Vista compatible, tells me it is a Vista problem and to contact Microsoft. Microsoft says since Vista came preinstalled, to contact Dell. I googled the message and found some info about a hotfix available for XP, but the dates of the info were a year or two ago and I don't really think it applies to Vista. Any suggestions?
I had no problem reinstalling and running quicken on Vista. You might have a corrupt file or a bad install. Use Add/remove to uninstall Quicken, reboot and install it again. You will be able to open your backup quicken files by using File, Open on the Quicken menu.
You also might want to check and make sure you have the latest updates for Quicken. I'm running Quicken 2007 ver. 4 and have no problems at all in Vista
