Ravisent CineMaster DVD player

After re-installing Windows 98SE, my DVD player no longer provides a picture. I just get audio. In following Ravisent's trouble shooter, I reset "picture" tab in "settings" to default. That does not solve the problem. I have removed CineMaster and re-installed from the installation CD, but the problem persists. Tried updating drivers, but am told that the present drivers are the best. "Device Manager" shows no conflicts. Am totally stumped.
 
Dell Dimension XPS 733MHZ, Pentium III. As stated, Win 98SE, re-installed from Windows installation CD. System purchased new from Dell,  Feb. 2000.

    By any chance do you have a hardware decoder card that needs a driver?

    Under "Device Manager" for the decoder, I get the message that the best driver is already installed, which is:

                    C:\WINDOWS\INF\OTHER\VIONAD~1.INF

    Do you possibly need the codecs to play movies?

    Sorry that didn't work. Is the video something you got in your e-mail? I had that problem with sound and no video on an e-mail link and fixed it rather simply. Trouble is, I don't remember what i did (old age maybe?).

    Two of the videos are DVDs which I have had for some time, and have viewed on the PC's DVD player several times, before re-installing WIN 98SE. Another DVD is a new one received as instructional material for our new dishwasher. I get no picture with any of those DVDs. However, my Encyclopedia Britannica DVD works fine, including the several video sequences on the DVD. As mentioned in my original post, this problem started after the re-install of the OS.
     
    Apparently, Ravisent was taken over by Sonic, but their web site is no help at all. They have a "virtual assistant" which does not provide a solution, and you can't even send an e-mail to their tech support department. Frustrating.
     
    I don't have a DVD player hooked up to my TV set, but I guess that may be my next purchase.
