For the XPS 420 there are two updates - under SATA drives - for the Intel Matrix Storage Manager.  There is the windows one ( which I installed) and another one that described as "OS pre-install driver only" in brackets.  I am assuming this is the driver used before Vista begins to load. As during boot up, the Intel Matrix storage manager shows the old version number.  The problem is I don't know how to install this one.  Any ideas
