Windows Explorer crashes when browsing a folder with a MPEG File, XP SP2

I believe this problem started happening after I downloaded SP2. Now when I browse to a folder containing large MPEG files (3 GB) my windows explorer crashes and pretty much holds up the whole computer. I have seen some postings regarding DivX, but I don't believe I am using that software.

ANy thoughts?

What do you mean by "windows explorer crashes"? I know that for certain configurations, explorer will first examine the files before updating its window, which can take quite a while if you have files of the size you mention. That issue is unrelated to SP2.

Windows Explorer will hang for minutes (I haven't waited long enough to find out if it self recovers - and I have never had this problem before.).

I can't even right click on the Windows menu bar at the bottom of the screen to get the 'Task Manager'. I have to hit CTRL-ATL-DEL to get it to come up. It will then say that it is 'Not Responding'.

My Dimension 2350 also crashed when I tried to run Windows Explorer after SP2 install.  I uninstalled it and things worked fine.  I then reinstalled it again and had the same problem.  I had turned of AVG Antivirus and Zone Alarm firewall to install.  I couldn't click on any folders and open them.  Everything else seemed to work fine.  I could open a program like Word and use the open file icon and could get to my documents and everything.  But Explorer just wouldn't work.  Finally I got tired of trying to fix it and just uninstalled SP2.  Things are working fine but I keep getting Auto Update messages that SP2 is ready to install.  Does anyone have any idea why Windows Explorer would act up on SP2 install and how do I fix it so that it doesn't happen if I reinstall SP2 again.  I thought the other features of SP2 were good and when I installed it on my daughters laptop she had no problems at all.  Any ideas would help.  Thanks.
