I am unable to install my important and recommended windows updates.  When prompted to restart after installation of updates, I restart, but when computer restarts, it shows that the updates failed.  Please help me.

Try downloading and install only 1 of the updates.

No error messages, just that they failed to install.  All of the updates fail.  I have not been able to update my computer in 2 months.  It acts like it's installing, but when you reboot, I get the little window in the right bottom corner of the screen that says the installation of updates failed and there are updates to install.  I usually attempt to install every day with no success.

MoneyGuyGK, that program is for XP not Vista, please remove the link before they do more harm than good.

Vista updates are a whole new ball game.

Try this first to get your Windows update working:
Here's what I did after much research to solve this problem you're having: You must do this in the SAFE MODE. In Start Menu click on COMPUTER, click on the WINDOWS folder. Look for SOFTWARE DISTRIBUTION FOLDER, right click on it, and select RENAME, then rename the folder to SOFTWARE DISTRIBUTION.OLD press enter. Restart and do your Windows Update.

The link below is just an example.

If you are trying to install (KB941649),after you pass the validation when the opotion box appears with opotions to run or save, chose to save it on desktop.

With all programs closed try to install it.
