I purchased the XPS 1210 late last year and I think it's pretty darn good. Now, I'm not too sure what you'll expect with a refurbished system, but this laptop is pretty well off, depending on what type of processor and ram they are giving you. Overall the XPS 1210 is great, if you happen to beef up it's components, however, I'm not too sure on the lower end models of this laptop.

As the person previously mentioned, if you aren't too bothered with a smaller screen, you'll like the laptop. I really take advantage of the video camera on the laptop...if it comes with it...I can record videos pretty decently.

On a side note, I purchased one of Dell's 22 wide inch monitors w/ wireless keyboard and mouse if I decide to work at home or require a larger screen (i.e. editing videos, pictures). Although the screen might be small, you can still easily work on it. I like the laptop a lot because it's convenient for me as a student to take it around anywhere, it has the power of a lot of desktops, but the portability at the comfort of your fingertips.

Another note: I've had problems with my laptop early on while I was running Windows XP Media Center. However, some of those issues were resolved once I upgraded to Windows Vista. My only qualm is that once I upgraded to Windows Vista, my hard drive has had less space to work with. I'm constantly transferring files off my laptop to my external hard drive.
