XPS 8700, adding a 1TB SSD
Two questions:
What internal 1TB SSD drive can I add to my XPS 8700? I need suggestions on the brand and model. I have a factory installed 1TB Western Digital HDD.
Can I transfer the contents of the HDF to the SSD, including the Windows 7 OS and all the updates? I have scores of programs on my PC and I don't want to have to reinstall each one onto the SSD.
The HDD is very slow and drags down my performance score so I'm eager to replace it. It contains about 800GB of programs and data.

Many SSDs come with their own migration software that will clone the HDD and install it on the new SSD. Or, you can use Macrium Reflect (free) to clone and migrate.
Some users like Samsung SSDs and Crucial also offers several SATA 1TB SSDs that are compatible with the XPS 8700. Note: Your PC has an mSATA socket on the motherboard, which can handle an SSD, but you don't want to use that connector because it's old tech. You want a SATA SSD.
You do realize that Win 7 is no longer supported by Microsoft and there won't be any more security updates. So you PC may be at risk when you go on line.
The update to Win 10 may still be free, and there are ways, with some important caveats, to keep your installed apps and personal files. But always better to image the HDD first on external media to be safe so you can quickly revert, or at the very least, backup personal files on external media first.

I would recommend getting the newest version of Acronis True Image

A better choice would be Clean Windows 10 install onto a brand new SSD using OEM system builder DVD
and Silverstone SDP09 and SAMSUNG MZ-76E1T0B/AM

I recommend getting this DVD for all of your dells NOW because they soon will become hard to find.
