HDMI port stopped working on Lat 7480

Question

My M.2 drive just died in my Latitude 7480. I installed a new 2TB drive. I partitioned, formatted, and installed a clean version of Windows 10. Now my external monitor (plugged into the HDMI port), which I used w/o any problems prior to the crash, doesn't work with this laptop. I can plug the same cable/monitor into my old E5520 and everything still works fine. I've let the Dell utility update all of my drivers and the firmware that it wanted to (although, previously it was working fine on the old firmware). The monitor seems to see the laptop, because when I unplug the cable from the laptop the monitor starts hunting for a new video source. But the laptop (Windows 10) can just not seem to see the monitor. Any suggestions?

Have you tried using the Fn + F8 (not sure if that is the sequence for running an external monitor)? I have had that problem when I forgot to reselect the external monitor on my Latitude.

Thanks for that suggestion. I tried it and it says that my video card doesn't support projecting to another screen. So it sounds like maybe I've got a driver mismatch? Should I remove my video card driver and let Windows auto load one?
