Ghosting with LCD Monitors

I have been considering buying the 1901FP and was wondering if I would be able to use it with 3 dimensional games. I have heard that 3D action games get alot of ghosting when moving around rappidly.

Fishbert-

I have a Dell 2000FP and a Samsung 171P.  Both are flat panel LCD's.  Both are used exclusively for high graphics gaming.  My 18 year old son is an avid gamer and plays all of the latest games.  He just finished Call of Duty, Max Payne2, Jedi Knight-Jedi Academy, etc. (just to give you an idea of the games that he plays).  All are graphic intensive.  All play extremely sharp and graphics are gorgeous and game play runs smooth as silk.  Never have seen even the slightest hint of ghosting EVER.

One thing you want to keep in mind, the better LCD monitors will give you better graphic quality.  Before I purchased the 2000FP I spent many hours at CompUSA test driving every LCD they had on the floor to give me a better idea of what to expect since they demo'd games.  Had to buy blindly on the Dell 20" since I was not even able to see it prior to purchasing.  It is a tremendous LCD and have no complaints towards using it for gaming (or at least my son says).

I am sure the 1901FP is no slouch as well.  I think you will be happy when you get to try it out.  You can always send it back if you are not happy and it does not meet your expectations toward gaming.  I think once you hook it up, you won't even consider sending it back.

I have the 1901FP and it ghosts TERRIBLY.  Half-Life is unbearable.  I've used the 1800FP and it does not ghost at all, and it has a higher response time, but my 1800FP which supposedly has a lower response time is just terrible.  I would highly recommend against this one.

I'm not sure if it's ghosting or a screendoor effect, however the text on my 1901 is fuzzy.  I've tried every screen resolution.  The best is  1280 x 1024 however text is still blurred.  I'm wondering if others experience this and if the 1800 may be a better option.

Thanks,

/D

My 1901 performs excellent with 3D gaming ... it is very fast and I don't have any ghosting.  My Uncle also has the 1901 and he reports that it displays Halo great.  Sounds like some of the others who responded to your question have faulty LCDs or have not tuned the display.  The 1901 is an excellent LCD with great specs, and I highly recommend it.  If you watch for the right combination of promotions and coupons, you can get it for $500-$550.
