Poweredge 600sc CERC ATA100 Raid 5 Event Log

This 600sc server is running NT 4.0 SP6 with the CERC ATA/100 Raid controller (three 80MB drives).  Do I have to have the Array Manager installed in order for this server to log any errors (drive failures, etc.) to the NT Event Log?  I would rather not have to install it unless it is required.  I can't tell, from what little documentation I can find on this controller, if it automatically logs events or if I have to have the Array Manager installed.
