Blue screen of death XPS 1330
I have a dual-boot configuration on my XPS 1330 (XP Pro and Vista).
when booting Vista, everything works fine...
when booting XP, I get the BSOD.
I figured the BSOD was due to the Sata driver and Bios.
I went into the Bios and changed a setting from ATA to AHCI and it worked... ATA works only in Vista
a friend of mine told me that if I am not working on ATA, the Hard Drive will only work at about 90% of its potential...
is that true? and if so how do I get it to work at full potential in XP.

Honestly you're not going to be able to notice any difference between the two. THe only place it MIGHT show up would be benchmarks, but in real-world performance it will not matter one bit.
The 1330 was never really designed for XP, I'd leave it in ATA if it's running well.

I downloaded my drivers from Intel but I assume the above linked ones are the same

I ended up injecting the driver directly onto the XP pro image and burning the cd.
As for performance, I have noticed an hour difference in battery life in light use on the laptop between Vista and XP. Also if you don't clear off some of the included software when you recieve the laptop it takes about 90 seconds longer to finish startup.

i am sorry...
i meant I had no sata drivers to allow my XP to work on AHCI and Flash Memory Bios modes.
i did a search in the forum and found a Lenovo driver which works fabulously
here is the link to the Lenovo driver :
