media card reader disappears, no it's a different story

I saw the other thread, but mine is showing different symptoms.  1) the Bluetooth still works and functions as espected, therefore the power and data connection should be fine; 2) there's no unknown device as reported in another thread, besides I have latest driver from Dell, which does not seem to help.

This is a 2 months old XPS 420 running Vista.

What could be the problem, and how to fix? Thanks.

I would reseat the cable anyway. There's two contacts that handle the bluetooth interface, the rest work with the Card reader. Sometimes I've seen where it works very narrowly then reseating the cable does the trick.

Hello,

For what it's worth, my media card reader would disappear when I woke my computer up from sleep.  I have a USB broadband modem, and when the computer woke up, the computer would recognise that and knock off my media card reader for some reason.  There was no problems with the bluetooth.

However, I have downloaded SP-1 a few days ago, and have just tried putting the computer to sleep.  On waking, it takes a minute but the media card reader AND the broadband modem seem to load themselves just fine.

:)
