Xps 720 w H2C cooler and QX6850 not stable HELP!!

I don't know where to manually adjust the voltage in a xps 720 you can't when you adjust the clock speed it automatically adjusts the voltage. will it work to do that in the nvidia control panel? If so how much should I increase the settings? just a minute amount at a time? Sorry for all of the dumb questions I just know anuff to be dangerous. Thanks Again

There is very limited options for overclocking this system If not for the eXtreme version of processores there is almost none really. You can OC using the Nvidia software but it will not stick like a true bios setting.

 

I would suggest you get a copy of coretemp and monitor the CPU temps with that. The QX6850 is a very finicky chip on this motherboard. Your ram can also play a big part in obtaining the higher clock speeds.

Make sure you are running the latest bios A06. Make sure you have the latest chipset drivers. You can get them from the Nvidia site. IF you do use the Nvidia site driver you must make sure you do not update the NIC as the system board uses a broadcom Nic vice a Nvidia nic. When you run the driver setup it will present you with an option screen on what to update. Just deselect the Nic portion.

Note in the Release Highlites it list all the componets it will update. You see  the ethernet listed at the top of the list this would be the one you would deselect during the install.

Ok I just updated the chipset drivers and everything still works. What did that do for me and still dont know why I cant OC past 3.33? But I am happy that I am stable at that. Thanks for your help!!!!
