Inspiron 1720 - won't start
Inspiron 1720 started with blue screens poping up often. Had to reseat memory continually. now won't start past Dell start screen. Ram card very hot to touch. Ran diags with no problems showing up. Heard this unit has had a recall on the hardware. Any ideas or information? Even though fan test checked out, never hear it run at high rpm even when memory is almost too hot to touch.

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13924_3-10000353-64.html ,these are the only systems with the effected GPU's with an extended additional year of warranty.Sounds like your DIMM slots might be bad,or the MOBO needs replacing.Contact dell tech support.

I bought an Inspiron 1720 for my husband and I have been doing the same thing for the past year. I have to reseat the hard drive often and at one point dell sent me a new hard drive and ram. Did you find a resolution to the problem?
