Dimension 3100 changing 80GB IDE to 640 GB Serial ATA HD...

Hello,

Added a PCI RAID controller card for the new hardrive, the Device Manager recognizes the new drive but the motherboard hasn't assigned a letter to the new drive,  Drivce status is Not initialized and Partition style is Not applicable

Need to activate the drive to transfer all files from old drive to new drive and remove the older smaller drive

What did I fail to do?

How can I make the scsi drive active in order to format it and transfer files to make this the primary drive?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Machine Spec's:

Pentium 4, 2.86 Ghz, 2GB RAM, old IDE 80 GB HD, New 640GB Serial ATA HD

Why did you install a PCI card for a SATA hard drive?

The 3100/e310 natively supports two SATA hard drives and two IDE optical drives, but does not support IDE hard drives.
