Ghosting issues with Dell Latitude E6400

We've purchased several Dell Latitude E6400 laptops, and I've not been able to image them using ghost 2003 or Hiren's Boot CD.  The SATA drive is set to IRRT, and I'm using the A12 Bios.  I've tried running ghost from CD and USB with no success.  It doesn't give an error message, the computer just freezes.  I'm hoping someone has figured out the trick to this and wants to share.  Thanks in advance.

aboxerangel,

We purchased 70 of the same laptops and have noticed issues while Ghosting over the network. This has only cropped up about 3 times out of 70, though. Maybe using GhostCast server would do the trick for you?

On a side note, we have had a multitude of issues aside from Ghost locking up. Our array of issues range from blue screens to 3 styles of intermittent system lockups.

Have you tried running the machine with the factory image or with a fresh install (with drivers)? If so, have you experienced any problems?

We've been going at this problem full-time for 3 weeks (with Dell Tech. Support) and we have yet to isolate a potential culprit (or set of culprits) for these issues. We suspect faulty hardware, or a combination of driver/firmware/hardware.

Sincerely,

Wishing we didn't buy these laptops

I had been getting the same error with the E6400's we have.  Actually after mildly solving this issue another came into view.

I just manually change each E6400 from IRRT to the ATA setting and the ghost works fine for *every* machine after that option has been set in the bios.  I've read a few reviews on Symantec's site and some people have been able to "inject" drivers in to get it to work but I haven't even bothered.

I hope this helps you...

Problem I have been having is after the E6400 has the new image on it, it doesn't show in the ghost console.  The 960 Desktops we have work just fine... the E6400's are the odd balls!
