Inspiron 8600 screen - can I replace WUXGA with WXGA?
Basically I stood on my laptop and broke it the screen. It's an inspiron 8600 with a WUXGA screen.
I'd like to replace it, can I replace it (the screen) with a much cheaper WXGA screen, or is the BIOS/graphics card somehow locked to WUXGA?
Thanks in advance
Simon

You can use a lower resolution screen, as long as:
1. It came from an 8500 or 8600 system
2. You get it complete with an inverter and data cable - those two parts are usually not interchangeable between different screen models.

FYI you can get that screen with inverter brand new on ebay for like $70.
I just got one there.

Well several of the US ebay dealers will ship worldwide so I would check some of them out.
I personally have been buying computer products from Hong Kong shipped to USA no problems.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Unfortunately I live in the UK where bargain prices seem harder to come by!
