Cannot use system restore because of insufficient storage although I do have the allocated 300MB of free space

Everytime I try to use system restore I get an error message that reads:

Insufficient storage available to create either the shadow copy storage file or other shadow copy data. (0x8004231F).

But I do have the 300MB of free space on each hard disk. I have even tried to free up extra space but to no avail! I need to use System Restore to free up some problems that I am having and I am unable to. Please help!

Your restore points could be going to,or set to go to,the D: drive which has the dell factory restore image on it.If this is the case you can delete all the restore points from the D:>Then change them to go to C: where they should be stored. Here is how,

1)Start>Control Panel>Back up and Restore Center>Click "Create a restore point or change settings" tab on the left side>(you need to be logged in as administrator).>System Properties menu should be up now>Under "System Properties" tab Uncheck the (D:) and select (C:) (This will automatically delete all restore points anyway),click apply.Make sure you create 1 restore point after doing this(using the back up and restore center) to have to go back to,and to see if it goes to the right drive. Now you should be able to use factory restore. Post back if you have problems.
