Win 7 upgrade notification
I purchased a laptop in August. I registered with Dell for the free upgrade. Since Win 7 has been released now, how long will it be before I receive the notification that I can get my upgrade?

Whats the problem? I had a little trouble with mine. Restart your comp, put the disc in, dont try and install yet, go on my computer> right click on the disc image> view files> and find a file that has 32/64bit in it, depending on what you ordered, and run that installer.

At least Dell ships around the world tbf, i have been quitely frankly sickened by the fact that i cant buy a Team Pacquiao tshirt from nike because they wont ship to the UK.
Sickening. Also, Slitheen, 60 hours? Whats going on there, i presume that the tracking hasnt been updated, not that its stuck. Or its stuck in the middle of the atlantic.

Normal 0 It's moving again now. They mustn't work weekends - well they do work weekends but only for people that have paid for the highest delivery rates like 'next day' etc - whereas Dell must have paid for the type that only moves on business days. Yours was shipped through the middle of the week...so you were lucky. This is the status of mine now:
NEWARK, NJ, US 11/09/2009 6:00 P.M. ARRIVAL SCAN
LOUISVILLE, KY, US 11/09/2009 4:11 P.M. DEPARTURE SCAN
LOUISVILLE, KY, US 11/07/2009 2:52 A.M. ARRIVAL SCAN
ONTARIO, CA, US 11/06/2009 8:19 P.M. DEPARTURE SCAN
11/06/2009 4:26 P.M. ORIGIN SCAN
US 11/06/2009 9:10 A.M. BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED
Next stop is Stansted. How long it sits there I don't know.

Ooo Slitheen i felt a bite there lol. Still no change now its tuesday? Dont worry Slitheen, having just looked at my tracking history, look at this:
Newark 11/04/09 6:13 PM Arrival Scan
Newark 11/05/09 8:34 AM Departure Scan.
I expect things to move along and sharply for you today, i think it will be in manchester by the middle of the night (around 3/4) and out for delivery. Amazingly, my upgrade only stayed in the manchester depot for an hour. Usually they spend a day their, but it got tracked and moved extremely quick.
Also, referring to my Nike post. Guess how much shipping charges are? $8 dollars! Although that is unrepresentative of the incomprehensible fact that they dont ship to the UK.
dhiraj1990, dont contact Dell, theyre not in charge of your shipping, UPS are, contact UPS and see if you can change the address.

Yeah i live in Oldham a few mile away from Manc. Never used eBay in my life, i suspect it will cost a bomb seen as its limited edition T-Shirts. I just talked to live support and they gave me a list of dealers, all of them specialising in...footwear! Oh dear.
You should have your W7 by tomorrow methinks, looking at the time frame. I would be surprised if you didnt get it tomorrow.

You from Manchester too then, Danshevik? Mine has just left Newark about an hour ago BTW.
Oh, you tried eBay for your Nike product? A lot of USA sellers ship worldwide for fair prices. Just watch the feedback to avoid snide gear.
To the chap saying we're impatient. No we are not. It released on 22nd October and some people have shipping dates way into December. It's not impatient to expect a reasonable service.

Dell-Jesse L . with all due respect the faq's on the windows seven upgrade site is useless as it only provides generalized info. and why do dell send a electronic message in reply to a message. this is a reply to a message i sent using the sites contact form. My message said " Can u give me any information as to why my shipment date has been delayed by 2 weeks!!!"
And this was the reply.

I was up fairly near your end a couple of weeks ago...in Greenfield.
No, still on for tomorrow (Thursday) for Windows 7...still at East Midlands cargo airport now. Been there since 11:15pm last night. Although if they'd have shaped themselves, I could have had it today yes. :(
Good luck tracking your Nike T-shirt.

Hmm you should get it thursday then, any later and you should put in a complaint. Your time is pretty much the same time as mine, they must be doing it in batches. Just ordered the shirt on ebay...the shipping costs are cheaper than the Upgrade was lol :P
If anyone is having any problems with shipping, or the usual no emails or responses, just make an article talking about your utter outrage of the situation, and your order will be further up the list of shipping.

Man alive, it is STILL at East Midlands....that's nearly 24 hours. If that leaves East Midlands early tomorrow morning, does that rule out a delivery for me tomorrow? How did yours go again after it left East Mid? Does it require another working day....meaning I'll get it Friday? :emotion-7:
