Studio 1535 (Windows 7) Media Direct Button Help

I'm not sure how much windows 7 is to blame.  I will install windows 7 in a couple days on my 1535, so I'll find out (the hard way I guess)  I'm running vista 32 now but will upgrade to 64.  Did you move from 32 to 64? 

My cd drive used to make noises and would light up.  I called tech support and someone came out and replaced the disc drive.  I haven't had a problem since.  I think it was a hardware issue.  The dvd drive in the 1535 kind of sucks to begin with.

I've heard from one person on the forums that their touch-sensitive keys worked after upgrading to 7 so there's no reason the cd eject should not work.  I'm still awaiting a few replies.

Did you download any drivers from the dell support site?  I couldn't find any specific dell drivers in device manager, but perhaps there's a driver.

Thanks for the reply!, I was previously using the windows 7 RC (32bit) where it worked fine, After installing 64bit it doesnt work after a while, The light will light up if i press it but it will not eject.

About the ejecting issue on startup i have had my blu ray drive replaced, motherboard and several sets of media buttons and mine still does it. So now i'm just living with it.

Anyone else have anything on this?

Ha, looks like there was already a response.  Hey, that wasn't there before I started typing!  Lol, well, at least mine will finally get fixed now.  Otherwise, haven't had much any other problems with this laptop, except that it doesn't have a separate number keypad when typing, but I guess I should've thought of that earlier, eh?  HHha  ha  haa! 

Hey there, sorry for the late response!  I do also have that same problem with the eject button lighting up most of the time upon startup.  I've also had my touch-sensitive panel replaced or they replaced something underneath it, I'm not sure as this was like just a month after buying it in 2/09. After that I never really pursued a solution too much, which I wish I had at least kept harassing them during my 1 year warranty to get it fixed or find a solution.  Buuuuut, too late now and it seems to be getting a little worse to deal with.  Now it actually stays on a black screen until it finishes doing "whatever it's doing", then always comes to after about a minute.  Then I can log in fine.  But it's beginning to become a pain now since I'm always on the go.  So I started pursuing my own solution and I'll bet there's something in the device manager that you can change to disable the touch-sensitive keypad.   I just skimmed through but can't find something that describes the keypad.  If we could only find out which one it is, we can disable it.  Granted I wouldn't have the kays available anymore, but I might prefer that problem over the other.  Thoughts?
