harddrive Load_Cycle_Count issue, ubuntu, still not fixed? (Inspiron 11z)

Hello.

I recently bought Dell Inspiron 11z (dual core).

I wanted to install Ubuntu 9.10 as second OS, with win7, but saw posts about the harddrive Load_Cycle_Count issue.

Was it fixed and it's safe to install ubuntu on my laptop, or may it destroy my harddrive?

Asking since ubuntu comes preinstalled on several dell laptop models.
