I wanted to do this but the 64 bit CD I had from Dell did not seem to work, so I ended up upgrading my system to the 32 bit Win 7. This worked fine (dual boot) and its much better than Vista. I'll probably try again when I've sorted out how to install Lotus Notes on my Win 7 system.

Hello!  Doing a clean install with help a lot.  Also go to support.dell.com and select your computer model and see if they have drivers available for your computer.. I would download them before upgrading and you should be set unless you have made any changes to your hardware.

first of all i want to thank you for your reply and now i got another quick question ive been told that the vista 64 bit drivers will work for windows 7 64bit ????and as im thinking of it i looked and the ati radeon hd 2400 pro 128 mb graphics card driver says "amd driver" does this mean it wont work on my core 2 quad intel system or what does that mean exactly? thanks for your input
