Windows 7 Ult 64 Bit Driver for Inspiron 1501
Hi there
I have just upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit version on my Inspiron 1501 Laptop
I am having a bit of trouble getting the drivers to install
I have looked for windows updates and also tried the windows vista 32bit drivers and still nothing
Does anyone know of any drivers that would work?
Thanks

Dell only supports Vista 32 bit on this model (Windows 7 32 bit would also be supported). Since there are no Dell 64 bit drivers you will be hard pressed to find drivers for all the hardware. Best option is to install Windows 7 32 bit OS version.

Also, another question ... in Device Manager under "Other Devices" what is "Base System Device" because its saying that I am missing the driver. Thanks.

Welcome to the forums Adrian
That's the danger in going from a 32bit OS, to a newer 64bit OS!
It's unlikely they'll work - unfortunately, but you've no option but to try the Vista 32bit drivers provided by Dell, and hope they're suitable?
I don't know why it's called that, but it's actually the media card reader :emotion-5:

I have 64bit Windows 7 Premium, and I just found a working driver for the graphics card. I uploaded it to rapidshare. i hope it works! If you need me to upload it again let me know.

I have a 1501 that I upgraded to 64bit Window 7. I had to use the 64 bit vista display drivers. My vista graphics driver version is 8.561.0.0. I found a post that warned about using the latest drivers and have not tried to update. Windows update did update the ATI catalyst control center and Windows is now complaining that my version of the display driver is not compatible with the catalyst control center. I don't care about the control center. I'm running the display at the max. resolution and I'm happy. I have a keyboard issue that I thought may be solved by switching to Windows 7 but it still exists. I love using Windows 7 on this laptop. I upgraded the memory to 2 Gb before I did the update. I was planning on replacing this laptop but know it may get another year of use.

If link won't work search in google with "ricoh media card reader driver 64 bit".
