dimension e310 ethernet controller not installed error statement
i recently re-installed windows xp onto my dimension e310 and have been unable to get the ethernet controller to re-install. the card is connected properly but i still get a yellow question mark against the ethernet controller symbol under the device manager, with an error statement of: "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28), To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver." i have attempted to re-install the drivers but am unable to upload the correct one from online and the provided software does not have available the drivers. any assistance would be great.

This is the driver needed for the ethernet port. Try this one.

This could be caused by installing drivers in the wrong order. The Desktop System Software and Chipset drivers must be installed first or all the other drivers do not install properly. Look for the Desktop System Software under System Utilities on your download page at Dell support/
