Studio XPS 8000 memory
I will try & ask this question a different way. I ordered a Studio XPS 8000 w/4GB 2 DIMM installed. I ordered 16GB of OCZ that Dell had on a deal. It is identified as
4GB 1333MHZ KIT DDR3 with Dell Part #A3315213 & OCZ part #OCZ3G1333LV4GK. Info indicates 4 slots open on the MOBO - now is that with the factory memory in or are there only 4 slots total? In that case will this OCZ RAM give me 8 GB total or possibly 12GB or 16 GB? - Dell sales support could not provide a clear answer. Anybody know?
Thanks

Hello,
Your model has four total memory slots as shown HERE.
<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>
Your model supports up to 16 GB as shown HERE.
If you bought two kits that you list you would have 8 GB total. But if you really bought 16 GB, you will have 8 GB left from the order and 4 more GB left that came from the system. IMHO, you should have bought one kit as you listed for 8 GB total when added to your existing memory, or removed the memory and bought 8 GB kits specific for your model number.

Here is what the Dell sales site lists for the part number you list ...

Thanks for the additional info. Where the confusion started is Dell illustrated the OCZ RAM as a single stick - so I thought '4' would give me 16 GB. Clearly, they are paired sets, so I will live with 8 GB for now & return the spares. I can always swap out for 8 GB pairs when I feel wealthy later.
Thanks again

I know you don't know me,but you seem so smart I would like to ask a question also about the XPS Studio 8000 memory. My XPS Studio 8000 has now on it 6Gb memory and the processors are the ICore 7 860. Can I by a different type(brand other) than Dell to upgraDE MY MEMORY? I was told that this desktop was a nice one and to only use Dell parts. But is that true? I also would like to know if you will concider answering my question, can I buy only like 1 module at a time or do I nedd tpo buy matched pairs? I am on a tight budget for a few months is why I appear so cheap. But I will just wait if you tell me I need the most expensive of the modules..
Thank you in advance for your time:. dayton5959, Kentucky
