Apple is having nightmares with these panels on their 27" iMacs, LG is unable to produce panels without any kind on tinting, Apple has halted their iMAC production and the 27" panels are impossible to be found even as spare parts. I guess LG has halted the shipment of the panels until a solution is found for the tinting problems, until then I guess DELL won't be able to supply the U2711 units in volumes. Unless, of course, DELL decides to start using all the b-grade-discarded by Apple 27" panels from LG which are likely to show the yellow/green  tinting, all the info here:

Yes. A DVI-D Dual Link video card that can support 2560x1440.

I have a Studio XPS 16 with a 1024MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670. Just received the new Dell U2711 27" LCD today and the laptop won't drive it. I was told before I ordered this LCD that it would work with this laptop via DisplayPort. When I plug it in now the LCD just flickers on and off at the native resolution.

I'm guessing this is a problem with the laptop, not the LCD. It will run the LCD at 1920*1080 but not the native 2560*1440. Should I call support to have the laptop displayport checked?

I am the Desktop Liaison. I do not know what resolutions the Ati Mobility Radeon HD 4670 can do on Display Port. Ask the laptop guys here.
