Upgrades M17
I am receiving an Alienware M17 laptop for replacement of a faulty M15x I had.
I have researched and found out that the Radeon Mobility 4850s will work with the motherboard, but I don't know where to buy them. Alienware does not certify them because of heating issues. Does anyone know where I could purchase a set?
Also, on my m15x when I installed Windows 7 I had graphics driver problems. On the M17 will I run into similar problems if I upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate from Windows Vista Ultimate?
The specs on the M17 I'm receiving are:
Core 2 Extreme x9100 Processor
4gb DDR3 RAM
500GB HDD
Dual ATI Radeon 3870 in X-Fire
Windows Vista Ultimate
17" WUXGA

The 5870 is now available in the M17x - you will have to contact Alienware for upgradeability/price options.

Its an M17 not an m17x. The 5870 is not compatible with the motherboard, but the 4850 is. Alienware will not directly sell me the cards even though it does work.
