Inspiron 1545 - Restore factory settings
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to restore my laptop to its factory settings but when I am on the "Advanced boot Options / Repair your computer" menu, the option Dell Factory Image Restore is not there (weird...). Any suggestions would be more than welcome.
My laptop uses win 7 x64
Thanks for your help

Thaks for your answer. The problem is that this option :
The Dell Factory Image Restore welcome screen appears.
does not appear on the menu.

I have the exact same problem. My Inspiron 1545 is running VERY slow -- I want to restore it to factory image. The tech support guy on chat sent me instructions, but the option to do a Dell factory image restore never appears in the menu as his instructions indicate.

I know this was posted last summer, but I'm also having a problem with not seeing the Dell Restore Factory Image on the Repair Computer menu. Does anyone know how to get it back there?
Thanks so much :)

Thank you SO much! This was exactly what I needed. After a year, my laptop started to act a little funny (lagging) so I searched and searched until I found your answer. You are a life saver :emotion-2:

For others if needed. Dell does have it documented on their web site.
Available on many Dell Dimension and Inspiron computers, Dell PC Restore by Symantec is a hidden partition on your hard drive that contains an exact copy of your computer's original factory software. With PC Restore, you can restore your computer to the original state it was shipped in to you from Dell and in a fraction of the time a manual reinstallation would require.

I bought a second hand Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop with windows Vista and I don't have the CD.I want to reinstall windows and format all drives with Factory image restore.when I press F8 while starting, I can see the boot menu options and choose the "repair your computer"option.and then login to windows and the window for "Dell Factory Image Restore" doesn't appear .in fact nothing happens just like a normal windows start!I could not find the "Dell factory image restore".

DURING POST HIT F8 to bring up the start up menu
choose repair system should be the 1st on the list
once you select that you'll have a second set of options abo 8 more
from here you can select the dell factory recovery i beleave the last one on the list in bottom
if its not there you may have an after market windows installed. my laptop came with vista to be sure... if you're able, right click on my computer or in your case computer and click properties. if you don't see any dell logos its not an original oem windows and who ever installed it probably formatted the system restore partition. You can check to see if it is there right click on my computer and select manage then choose disk management and look for the restore partition if its there then maybe its install scripts or data is corrupted then you should just spring for the factory dvds from dell or a third party that makes restore dvds most are abo 20-40$ that will format both partitions into your drive so you can restore from the menu once again

The only way to have the password reset/removed is to call Dell with verification of ownership. A support call charge applies.
