Inspiron 1525 no power light, battery light flash orange, wifi light flash blue/orange

I use the Inspiron 1525 as a desktop, so I never plugged in the battery.

Everything was normal yesterday and I shut down the laptop before went to bed.

This morning when I connected the AC adapter, there's no power light, the batter light flash orange, the wifi light (on the right side of the laptop) flash blue and orange. When I press down the power button, I can hear the fan start running, nothing else, black screen, battery light still flash orange, wifi light still flash blue and orange.

I plugged in the battery and see the same problem. (When I press down the power button, I can hear the fan start running, nothing else, black screen, battery light still flash orange, wifi light still flash blue and orange.)

Operating system: Windows Vista. I bought it in 2008.

Anyone can help me find out the problem? I am desperate now since I need to access information inside it.

I could be wrong about this, but it is just my opinion. I have a couple Inspiron 1525's and I am having a similar problem with one of them. The difference is that the wifi light does not blink. Only the battery light does. But after it blinks orange a few times it then turns blue and the laptop starts up. The problem: the battery is faulty and needs replaced. Well I did a little research on the issue that you're having and it was fairly hard to find. Not too many people have posted such an issue. I did find one result. The man/woman wasn't 100% about it, so I can't I'm 100% either. But I will just copy and paste his post to another persons problem:

"What's going on is the Power-On Self-Test (POST) has discovered a fault or failure. You might have a loose component (memory chip, video card assembly, etc) and the computer is turning itself off to preserve your hard drive data. Since you got it in 04, your warranty has expired. If you are comfortable working on it, you should see about re-seating your RAM and CPU. (I would have to look that model up, haven't seen one in years, so i am not 100% cerain where the ram is, but usually it's under a panel on the bottom, or, under the keyboard). If you do NOT feel comfortable tinkering with it, then take it to a repair shop for an estimate. If it costs more than $400 to fix it, you may want to invest in a replacement machine. You can get a refurbished 1525 (and just move your HD over to the other one) for about 200-400 bucks.
If you are very confident in yourself, then you may want to try taking it apart and re-inserting all the connections, making sure nothing pulled loose, like the LCD cable or the ram or the video card assembly, etc.
Good luck"

Now if by chance you are anywhere around the Cincinnati area then I could do this for you for free. But chances of that are pretty unlikely. If you don't know much about the hardware in the 1525's you can just send me an email and I can try to walk you through how to reseat or at least check the hardware that is accessible without having your laptop in a million pieces. So if needed, just send an email to <ADMIN NOTE: Email address removed per Privacy policy>

Good luck,
Adam

Hi guys, I have had a really similar problem with my dell d620. Overnight the battery stopped charging. I find it hard to believe its just died suddenly. Is reverting back to a previous BIOS likely to resolve the issue? I have already upgraded from a14 - a15 without success.

If the problem still exsit, i suggest you buy a new one and this link may help you.

i actually found a solution to a battery that suddenly stopped charging. it sounds quite complicated but it did work for me on 2 different occasions with 2 different computers. here is how it was done(i found it in another forum and hundreds of people said it worked for them too):

start the computer and let windows load up(having both the battery and the charger plugged in

shut the computer down and close the lid

unplug the laptop

take the battery out

plug the laptop back in

open the lid and start the laptop up

after windows completely loads, shut it down again

close the lid

unplug the laptop

put the battery back in

plug the laptop back in

open the lid and start windows up

it should be working again after that.  now of course this wouldnt work for the original post here since the laptop wont start up at all. so a new battery may be the best solution if reseating the hardware doesnt work
