Management of Froyo 2.2 update - Dell Streak

The 2.2 update for the Dell Streak is a good example of how not to roll out an update. From a customers perspective this is not the way to do things.

Why don't Dell just post a list of model numbers and the date and time the update will be made available. All of the questions and uncertainty will stop.

eg: GAUSB1A111800 available 18th November 2010 at 0800 hours GMT

Make all time and date references to Greenwich Mean Time.

It doesn't need to be as hard as you're making it.

And then they were 1 day later because they had to fix a bug, then customers start whining about that.

The information on this page has been virtually useless.

What are you talking about. Deal with reality.

GAUSB1A110700-EU - bought direct from dell.co.uk unlocked, supposed to be updated 15/11/2010 three days ago.

I'm astonished that no information is available, its a disgrace. My £450 phone is almost useless, just now I received an email from a potential customer telling me he couldn't get me on the phone, when I checked my Streak had turned itself off AGAIN. Some people who received the O2 2.1 update are even worse off.

Dr Android is absolutely right, even if the information was "the update has a flaw and has been pulled, it'll be a month before its ready for release" it would be better than just being lied to and ignored.

Amy, some honesty would be nice at this point.
