Mini 10 with 1510 wireless card will not connect to internet
I bought a Dell Mini 10 in summer 2009 with a 1510 wireless card. It runs Windows XP.
Recently it has been unable to connect to the internet. The signal shows up as very good, but I cannot get it to connect. It prompts me for a network key (letters a-f numbers 0-9), which I usually don't have. What I do have is the password to the network which is not the same as the network key and doesn't work.
I tried re-downloading the driver.
I've been told that the issue is that the routers and wireless card have different types of encryption, but not how to fix that.
The netbook also has 2 different programs for the wireless network: Wireless Network Wizard and the standard Windows wireless network connection program.

What type of encryption are you using in your wireless router?
What channel?

I'm not sure. I don't own to the routers that I am trying to connect to. They're just internet connections provided by universities and other public places that have that are password protected. Other computers connected to it with no problems.

Basically, what I've figured out is that there are two programs competing to connect the mini to the internet - the one that comes with Windows XP and the one provided by Dell. With both of them on there at the same time, it's almost impossible to connect.
What I ended up doing is purchasing the 32-bit version of Windows 7, which fixed the problem. Of course if you do decide to do this, you will also have to download the driver update for the wireless 1510 card as well from the Dell website. I'm really happy with Windows 7 on my mini, it runs a whole lot faster, the usage of the screen space is maximized, and it connects to the internet.
