How do you change settings in Bios on Inspiron 15r / N5010
ok, so we bought a new laptop. i want to change the primary and secondary functions of my F keys.
i did it before with Inspiron 1545 and it worked fine. i don't really like the idea of the multimedia keys to be the primary since i do a lot of alt+f4 and stuff. and now i am forced to press FN with everything. so.
how do i change it on Inspiron 15r?

Hi
Welcome to Dell community.
We can change the multimedia key functions in BIOS.
Hit F2 at dell logo, in BIOS you shall find the option to change the behavior of the keys.
If you have any issues do let me know.

thanks for reply. i did that days ago multiple times but i can't edit it out. it doesn't look like the bios of inspiron 1545 too.
i used tab multiple times but i can't get to the part where i can choose the primary and secondary keys. it seems locked. :|

You would find the option in System configuration>Function key behaviour
Here is a screen shot of the same to make things easier.

oops, actually figured it out.
it turns out F2 in my laptop is 'SetUp'
and the function keys' controls are under advanced options. :D thanks.

There is also an option in the Windows Mobility Center under the DELL category.
Function Key Row (Fn Key Behaviour). You can change it to Fn Key or Multimedia Key.
