ZINO HD - Netflix Stuttering Video

I have had a Zino HD for several weeks now and am getting it fine tuned for my application.  One nagging issue is that there is a very subtle stutter to videos in Netflix using either WMC or browser based viewing (both use MS silverlight of course).  This is most apparent in panning shots or moving characters.  This sort of phenomenon is described in hundreds of different scenarios and applications across the web and I am not sure whether to call it "judder" "jitter" "stutter" or what.  In any case, the video is simply not completely smooth.  It's certainly watchable and many others aren't nearly as bothered as I am.  I have been most convinced that this is a manifestation of some sort of framerate mismatch or refresh mismatch between the content, HDMI output of the Zino and/or my display (Vizio 47", 1080p, 120Hz).  I have done my best to toggle the display's "smooth motion" and "film mode" settings (worked for other scenarios) and don't observe dramatic improvement.  Also for reference, I can play 720p or 1080p x264 content completely smoothly through MPC - HC.  Bandwidth is ample (solid 10/3) and supports smooth streaming of Netflix 720p HD content to other devices.

Any others noticing a similar issue or with helpful ideas would be appreciated!

Hi Fullipper,

Have you tried a different display to see whether it's your Vizio or something else?

I'm not going to mislead you--this can be tricky to sort out.

Thanks for the reply and logical suggestion.  Unfortunately I do not have ready access to a suitable alternative display.  Furthermore this is the sole application for which I purchased the Zino HD and therefore need to sort out the bug or be sorely disappointed.

I had a similar problem with our Sony Bravia HDTV. I lived with it for about a year until someone on the Netflix forums finally suggested a fix. It was an obscure setting called Cinemotion. When I turned that off, the problem was instantly solved.

I have read of this solution working in a variety of other scenarios and as indicated in my initial post have tried to toggle the corresponding setting on my Vizio "smooth motion" and "film mode".  Sometimes it seems as if this has a modest effect but I've not been impressed that this has resolved it.  I may try a "factory reset" and toggle the settings again for good measure.

Forgot to mention that Sony provided a firmware update for our TV that seemed to help. I'm not streaming from a PC but a blu ray player, so it might be a little different. The reason I suspected the TV was that streaming on my PC was always smooth. Only the TV showed stuttering.

The best setting still seems to be with all of the smooth motion or cinema processing off which is what I was using.  Unfortunately  the basic issue remains.  A firmware upgrade would be great unfortunately it does not appear there is any such update or even option for my model of Vizio, SV470XVT.  My hope for a resolution is waning.
