XPS 730X PSU not functioning
Recently my XPS 730X just stopped working. I had a really bad thunderstorm heading my way, so i had my 730 unplugged. Following the storm all my system will do "click" when ever the power button i pressed.
Even when the "test" button in the back of the PSU is pressed all it does is make a click sound. Opening up the case...all motherboard lights are lit, to include the green and amber lights in back by the internet cable.
Ive been told that there are tricks to resetting a PSU...is there one out there for the 1000W PSU currently in my system???

Were any other PC cables still connected (Ethernet, Modem, etc.) ?

at the time when the computer was unplugged, all cables were still attached to the back of the computer. I have since tried to reboot the system having disconnected all cables from the back of the computer.

so basically I have to assume that the PSU is toast and that I need a new PSU??
having asked that...do I need any special PSU to fit into this computer case?? I noticed it is a long rectangular PSU design not the traditional square design.

So the storm could have sent a surge through the other cables (ethernet, etc.) that you had left attached to the wall sockets.

Other users have used 3rd party power supplies but I can only recommend ours. Call Dell Spare Parts 1-800-357-3355 and ask for the part number or find them online.
