Unmountable Boot Volume - Image deployed via MDT2010 to XT3

1) MDT Boot media is WinPE 3.1.
2) Image is advanced format and AHCI capable and has no issues when put down on any other Dell hardware (24 hardware types).
3) XP image is SP3 that has been fully patched.
4) Drive passes diagnostics.
5) Device restarts into Minisetup and completes successfully.
6) Before device restarts out of WinPE and into minisetup, filesystem (reported via diskpart) is reported as NTFS.
7) Sysprep does leverage ExtendOemPartition = 1.
8) After minisetup completes, device restarts to Unmountable Boot Volume
9) When in WinPE, drive no longer accessible and filesystem reports RAW
10) symptoms persistent regardless of disk controller state (ahci, sata, raid)
11) Initially assumed it could be a driver issue, changed task sequence so that no drivers were injected, same issue
12) I am currently deploying without ExtendOEMPartition
13) Have not imaged Win7, it will happen after this test deployment.

I am completely baffled.

This sounds like an issue that has been seen with Advanced Format drives when "ExtendOEMPartition=1" is used. Have you prepped your OS deployment for AF drives?

As mentioned by Warren above, the simple fix for this issue is to remove the ExtendOEMPartition=1 line in your sysprep.inf and make sure you are using ONLY the latest and greatest Intel Mass Storage driver v 10.x on AFHDD (Advanced Format Hard Drive).
