Upgrade Inspiron 620 CPU to i7
Hi All,
I have an inspiron 620 w/ i5 2310 CPU. Does anybody know if the motherboard supports i7 CPUs? Am thinking of upgrading (along w/PSU and Graphics Card) but I'm not sure how to verify the motherboard would support it.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Core I7 is not listed The power supply options aren't there either.
The Intel X58 Express Chipset supports 45nm Intel Core i7 processor family. Socket LGA 1366.
The inspiron 620 DOES NOT HAVE this chipset or socket. It has the 6 Series Socket LGA 1155
that means to me that a Intel Core i7-2700K 3.5 GHz LGA 1155 might work but I have no Idea.
Power supply and HEATSINK would be the biggest worry I think.

Thanks for this. I would expect to change the PS as well. When you say you're concerned with the heatsink - wouldn't I just use the new heatsink that comes with the i7? Is there something else I'm missing? Thanks again.

Dell heatsink fans sometimes insist on being dell. If you use 3rd party fan it will FAN FAILURE SHUT DOWN.
Some retail Heatsinks may not physically fit also. Don't just put the new one in and crank it down crushing critical components as you do.
Could also be that the stock heatsink is fine. I'm not DELL Engineering or INTEL Engineering so I wouldn't have the test data to say one way or the other.
