DELL Precision M4500. More than 8 GB of memory - is it posible?
I have tried to increase the memory to 16 GB (2 x 8GB). BIOS reports that the laptop has 16 GB. In the BIOS there is a program memory diagnostic and it successfully completes its test. But Windows 64 bit can not be Installed and can not run from your hard drive (already installed). Is it possible to increase the memory up to 16GB?

Yes, the system does support 16G of RAM.

If Windows won't boot, is the RAM you've installed certified for your system, or is it generic RAM?

Try Crucial or Kingston (the latter, KTD) RAM. Once you go to 16 G the demands on the memory go up -- sloppily timed RAM or modules with less than good electrical characteristics become show stoppers.

I have tried to use Memory QUM3S-8G1333C9R (DDR3, 1333MHz, 8Gb, CL9) - it's not certified for my system.

Kingston doesn't have 8G modules for that system - Crucial, however, does.

Hello,
I tried to find Kingston code for M4500. You mentioned only KTD. Could you, please, mention the full code(s) of 8GB modules supported by M4500? Thank you.

Have just installed 16GB of Crucial RAM ( http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=749C61DDA5CA7304 ) on my Dell Precision M4500 ( Intel Core i7-940XM CPU ) and it is identified by my Ubuntu 12.04 OS.
