Dell 968 USB connected printer will print but won't scan

I am setting up a user with a Lenovo Thinkpad T420 with windows 7 and moving them off of a Dell D630 with windows XP.  The Dell 968 printer was working fine on windows XP.  When i installed it on the Windows 7 machine I got the printer to work just fine but windows will not recognize the scanner at all.  I don't see any scanner drivers installed anywhere.  The only drivers that seemed to have installed are the Dell 968 AIO driver, a Dell 968 XPS driver, and a Fax Dell 968 driver.  I never noticed any sort of scanner driver installing.  I've completely removed the printer from the system and registry several times and reinstalled several times only to get the exact same error.  I have even tried downloading the drivers from several different locations in hopes that it was just a bad install file. Does anyone have any suggestions?  Is there any place I could just download the Dell TWAIN/Scanner driver and install it separately?
