Wireless issue on Dell Inspiron 620s

Hello everybody,

I just received my new Dell Inspiron 620s (OS : Windows 7 SP1 Professional (64 BIT))
with the following wireless device : Network 1502 (802.11n) Half-height Mini-Card.

I tried to use a RJ45 cable in order to connect to internet and it worked perfectly,
but when I tried to use a wireless connection, nothing worked.

I reinstalled the drivers, read a lot of forums and I could not find any inputs
on this problem. If anyone has an idea I ll be glad to hear it.

Thanks for your help folks.

ant0ine,

Places to look to see if your Connection is enabled

If you have the recovery partition, then I would try...

Restoring Your Computer´s Software to the Factory Settings

Everything is there and you shouldn't have to do anything.

ant0ine,

Did you install the desktop/notebook system utility and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Start with the desktop/.notebook system utility and the chipset drivers and install everything from there.

Hello Rick,

First, thank you very much for your answer.

Second, I read several replies on the forum and figured that I had to install drivers the "correct".

So I restored my computer (just in case) and installed the drivers in the correct order but
it still does not work. I can see my wireless network but when I try to connect to it, it fails
and windows opens the help assistant...

Still stuck without wifi...

So how bad is it :

1 : At startup everything seems to work fine :

2 : Let's connect to a network (here the list is incomplete regarding the networks I am usually able to reach with my phone for example) :

3 : After an attempt : Impossible to connect...

4 : The resolution tool is simply reseting the network card as it says and then back to step 1 !

Still no network...

Any Ideas ?

ant0ine,

Can you try running the Finding System Information Tool (preferred)Or hit the Windows Key and the R keys at the same time. Type

systeminfo.txt REMOVE THE PRODUCT ID and post the rest of the information back here.

or an ipconfig /all log and maybe it will reveal something.

Antoine,

I'm glad you did not translate it. It's sometimes better for me to translate.

It shows you have a hybride computer. Did you install the chipset drivers first, when installing Windows 7? Could you locate Winjdows 7 64-bit drivers for the Dell Wireless 1502 802.11b/g/n adapter?

You have a Dell Wireless 1502 802.11b/g/n which transmits on the 2.4GHz frequency ONLY. If you have a wireless N router, you need to change it to the G mode or try to connect your computer to a wireless G router. If your wireless router is a dual band, it will connect to the wireless G mode, using these Recommended Wireless Router Settings I use channel 11.

Start, control panel, networking and sharing center. Click on your connection, them click on properties. Look for TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6, then click on properties for each. Make sure the settings match mine.

Rick,

I have a question : what do you mean by a "hybride computer" ?

Regarding the installation of the drivers, I did not install anything as I just received the computer and it did not work.

So following your advice, I deleted all the network devices  and reinstall it using my dell driver DVD.

With the chipset first and then the wireless card driver.

I performed the changes you suggested on my wifi router (eventhough regarding the wifi norm used it was in auto mode

so I guess the box was able to choose regarding the machine capabilities). I checked and everything seemed to work fine on the other machines I have at home.

All the TCP settings were by default matching the ones you showed.

Concerning the driver, I am not sure about what you expect so here is a piece of information I found about it :

Hope it is what you were looking for.

Thanks.

By the way, I reach the support center and they made me unplug and replug the wireless card.

Then restart the installation process and there we are, everything is the same as when I received the computer.

They are sending me a Windows 7 DVD in order to reformat the computer and if after that I am still stuck, they'll

pick up the machine and bring it to a "factory center" where they will perform tests and might change the card.

I ll let you know. But by the time I receive the DVD if you have any idea, don't hesitate to share it.

Meanwhile, I ll download a linux live CD and i ll try to see if that could work on linux (maybe the windows driver

does not work correctly).

Have a nice day.

Hi all,

After a few days without any news from dell, I tried a linux live CD. The support of the network card was fine but the download rate was really slow.

So I decided to buy a USB wifi dongle and it works perfectly. So I guess my network card has a default.

Thank you for all your answer and your advices, I ll contact dell to see what to do.

Antoine
