Given Wrong Warranty Date

I just found my receipt for my laptop and I purchased it on Sept. 25, 2011. Yet, Dell is saying my laptop is out of warranty as of June 20th. I thought it was a year from the purchase date? Can someone help me please?

If the system was purchased at retail, you must register it.

www.dell.com/.../retail

If it was purchased from an individual - EBay, etc., - contact the seller.

It is already registered. Yet, the warranty date still says it ended on June 20th

Did you report that date when you registered the system?

Not at that moment, the date was already preset to June because I gave them a guesstimated date of my purchase. But now that I have my actual receipt, I'm wondering if they can change the date.

having also sort of same problem here; purchased my 5559 on 7-12-2016 (7th of December 2016) and dell registered the warranty start date as

Collect and Return

DELL

12/07/2016

12/07/2017

saying that, it started as by July and not at December...  so it ended in July and NOT in December...

funny you say? no, it's all but funny... read on to get the picture of how DELL handles warranty these days and BE WARNED !

seen the problem, that the laptop has all kinds of different little problems, (screen makes strange noises when you open the cover; touchpad is misplaced and several other unpleasant things like that) I wanted a replacement from day one, but the frustrating helpdesk, the simply in-accesable warranty access points here in Greece and as such the other helpdesks did not help, pointing again to greek helpdesks,

nice way of stealing 6 months of warranty status at the expense of the buyer..

worst thing is that you can nOT communicate with anyone who possibly could solve the problem, tried several times to contact DELL helpdesks here in Greece, Helpdesks US, which simply refuse to do anything, pointing to local helpdesks, when calling here in Greece u get some ignorant, simply NOT understandable guys sounding very much like Pakistan english, which simply not even get what you mean;

( I think DELL places these guys on purpose at these helpdesks to cover up their lousy warranty handling and coverage, simply to discourage people from contacting helpdesk at all)

after having being through several chat-sessions, (also chats with DELL-US); e-mails and countless hours of such useless I made my decision..

I will put my full review on the net and make sure it helps other people being on the search for a warranty covered laptop NOT to buy any *** from DELL!

by the way.. the price I payed here in Greece for a inspiron 5559 in December 2016 was around 1000,- Euro's making it a ridiculous expensive buy anyhow, and then all this, the lousy quality, as if you buy a LADA at the price of an Mercedes Benz..

feeling nicked and thinking with tears in my eyes back at the times I used to be a network engineer for big companies in Europe, buying equipment worth millions of dollars from DELL;

That days back, when You had a problem, you called them and the same day the replacement laptops, servers or whatever defective was replaced the same day without hassle...

but yeah, nothing is like it was

most of it as I see now, the stuff from DELL

SHAME ON YOU ALL FROM DELL !

SHAME WHAT HAS BECOME FROM GOOD OL' DELL !

AND YES, DELL, THANKS A LOT FOR A OVERPRICED, UNWORTHY SCRAP-PRODUCT WITH THE NON-EXISTING WARRANTY FOR THE MENTIONED!

SO, IF YOU ALL WANT SOME ADVICE FROM AN OLD-GROWN IT-GURU.... STAY AWAY FROM DELL AND THEIR SO-CALLED WARRANTY !

IT SIMPLY DOES NOT EXIST !
