Latitude D630, problems with Windows 7
hi everyone!
I manage to get an used Latitude D630 2 years ago. It worked perfectly with Windows XP, but i decided to move to Win 7. My laptop is performing great, but there is a strange problem, any time i plug or unplug the AC adapter the screen goes off for like 2 seconds, and ok, i can live with that but, the worst is that i can't use Aero theme. When i use Aero and plug the adapter, the screen turns off and on many times and a notification pops up saying that the intel graphics accelerator crashed or something, after that the system just got freezed. i have to force my PC to turn off. None of that happens with XP or Vista (any Edition x86/x64).
These are the specs of my Latitude:
Brand : Dell
Model: Latitude D630
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo CPU T7500 @ 2.20GHz 2.20 GHz
RAM: 3.00 GB
Graphics Card: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
Actual OS: Windows 7 Professional x64
PS:
This problem happens with any Edition of Windows 7, no matter if x86 or x64. I've try them all.
Hope any of you can help me this, it is very annoying.

Have you attempted to run the Vista Drivers setup in compatibility mode for Windows Vista.
Go to C:/Dell/Drivers/R180864 right click the setup and select compatibility mode for Windows Vista (Service Pack 2).

Did you follow my wiki A Clean Install of Windows and install the drivers in the correct order?

Its a great guide. Even though there is no option for Windows 7 drivers for my latitude, i got the Vista drivers, since i heard they are compatible. I thought my PC is not able to run Win 7, but i knew someone who has the same Latitude D630 and runs Win 7 perfectly. A great guide you have Nataku, but i couldn't help solve my problem, sorry.

Yeah I installed it on one also and it runs perfectly too, I just used the Vista Video Driver. Have you ran the diagnostics on your system?

You have to use the windows Vista 64 drivers for the video. They are WDDM 1.0 and not WDDM 1.1 so Full AERO is not possible on this video card.

I have the WDDM 1.1, dont understand if i need the 1.0 or th 1.1 to install Vista 64 drivers.

Yeah, the diagnostics said i got the latest drivers. I even run the scan on the intel page and according to them i've got the latest graphics driver for this PC.

I tried installing Vista 64 video drivers, but in the process i got a pop up saying: "This system does not have the minimum requeriments for the installation of this software."

OMG It actually worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. THANK YOU SO MUCH NATAKUC4. I can use Aero without any trouble now :). Even though for R180864 was not available in the Dell page, i used R181486. Thanks man you are the best :) and thanks to SpeedStep too.

Did you change your drivers on your Latitude with the automatic driver update on Intel's Download center? Haven't read all the replies yet because there is a bunch but I have downloaded the new driver Wireless_15.2.0_Ds32 and infinst_autol. Same problems with windows 7 64 but haven't restarted my computer yet.
