Inspiron one 2320 - touchscreen unresponsive
I recently bought a dell inspiron one 2320 with a touch monitor.
However, the touchscreen is not responding to any form of touch despite 'Tablet input service' Running in services, in control panel i have ticked 'Use finger as an input device' And i have opened the case and the wires for touch function appear to be correctly connected.
Concerning drivers, i am not 100% sure what i am looking for so it may be the problem, i have installed all available drivers from the dell website.
Thanks in advance
Rowan.

Hi RowanM ,
Welcome to the community.
I would like to inform you that there are no drivers for the touch screen. You will need to go into control panel and calibrate the touch settings. Refer to the following link for detail video.
If it is still not working, there might be an issue with the LCD screen.
Please respond in case you need any further assistance or clarification.
Thanks and Regards

Under Control Panel there is an ICON for Tablet PC when you view as very small ICONS.
To adjust calibration
On the Display tab, under Display Options, tap Calibrate.
If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Follow the instructions on the screen, and then tap Yes to save your calibration settings.
Notes
To perform a 16-point calibration again, in the Tablet PC Properties window, tap the Reset button. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. Tap OK, and then tap the Calibrate button.
If you begin a 16-point calibration and your screen is set to Portrait orientation, it will change temporarily to Landscape during the calibration.

I clicked on the calibrate setting after reseting, it doesn't seem to respond at all. Wherever i tap on the screen there is no response. I believe there may be a problem with the LCD screen, i purchased the computer from the dell outlet and on the spec it said: 'Display: 23 inch Touch Monitor' Does that mean that the touch function should definitely be working? Can i send it back with this fault?

I have exactly the same problem. The calibrate setting doesn't respond at all plus the computer is from the dell outlet. Did you send it back? or there is another solution?

I'm having the same problem - received my 2320 yesterday and it doesn't respond to touch. I've checked those settings and all is as it should be - does that indicate it's a hardware issue?

It's very disappointing! It seems there are a lot of problems with this touch screen but I can't return my computer because it is out of the country :(

I have an issue with an Inspiron One 2320 touch screen too. Dell Tech Support doesn't have a clue how to reslove it. Check out Microsoft KB 2405640. Dell Tech Support never referenced it. Contacted Microsoft Support and there is still no resolution to the issue.

My touch screen will occasionally not work at all on start up and I have to restart to get it to work. When I tried the calibrate PC Tablet set up it shows no functionality for touch screen when it is not working. Mouse still works unless I reboot to get back touch but this means Dell has a serious bug and charged us more for a touch screen that is faulty...

I've never seen my touch screen working. I completely agree with you.

It happens once in a while only but still annoying. What I found that works is if you hit ALT+CTRL+DEL and call up the task manager and hit SWITCH USER and re log in or RESTART computer it fixes the issues for the whole time I have it on. It does not happen all the time but once in a while and this is the fastest way to get the touch back. Not sure why it happens but at least I found a quick fix since the new DELLs restart so quickly.

I have the problem with a 2320 touch screen not working after coming out of sleep mode. Dell support doesn't have a clue. They wanted to replace hardware including the actual display screen . I found the Microsoft KB 2405640 which addresses the issue. After contacting Microsoft Support they stated that the issue has not be resloved. Now I do not use sleep mode and have not had any problem with touch screen. Again Dell Support is useless. They did not even know about the KB.

My 2320 Inspiron desktop touch screen stops working about once a week. I called technical & they had me download an updated BIOS. Didn't fix the problem. Now they suggest have a tech come out to switch the LCD screen, but it seems to me to be a software issue since most of the time it works. Tech seems not to know what to do about this problem.

I've been having problems with "Dell Tech Support" concerning 2320 touch screen not working as noted in previous replies. They really do not know the 2320 system. Back in October they had me put the unit back to factory settings which really didn't solve the problem. Now their usual answer is to reinstall Windows 7 and/or go back to factory settings which are really the same. They have something called The Escalation Team" who are not technicians, but marketing people. The Team also wanted to send a tech to replace things, but they did not what to replace. My experience is that the touch screen problem is software, not hardware. On two other issues "The Escalation Team" thought they were hardware problems, sent a tech on one issue (tech had never worked on a 2320) and sent part on another. Both turned out to be software and I resolved the issues myself. I've been a Dell customer for almost twenty years with nine systems and the current "Customer and Technical Support" is the worst in the industry. Round Rock, Dell corporate headquarters doesn't respond to complaint letters, just send them to their call center in India. This will be my last Dell purchase.

Someone else in another thread recommended this, and so far it seems to be working. Stay tuned.
"Temporarily disable hybrid sleep and hibernation in Power options to test. Hybrid sleep is a combo of sleep and hibernation and sometimes all of the hardware doesn't wake up properly after hybrid sleep."

I tried this and so far it works. Great research BicBx. Unless this came from Dell Tech Support, which I doubt, it again shows that Dell Tech Support doesn't know Dell systems. Dell actually had great tech support when it was based in the US. Their India based tech support is totally useless. Again thank you BicBx.
