External Mouse not working
Hi,
Have tried to connect separate external usb mouse to my laptop and all though they appear in the Control Panel (ect.)
I cannot get either to work.
I looked at the driver rankings and the Laptop touchpad have priority over the externals.
Some time its working fine suddenly it has stopped working. i don't know the reason.
and one thing When red light is on its working fine when it is off. it didn't works.
Even mouse is connected with laptop after that the red light not working.
Inspiron 1564
64-bit Windows 7
Can any one help ?

Hi Tamesh_dell,
It seems that the mouse or the USB port in not working fine.
Do other USB devices work with the system? You may also try changing the port to which the mouse is connected. If possible, try using another mouse. You can also try this mouse with another system.
This should tell if the issue is with the mouse or the port. If USB ports are not working fine, you may try re-installing the USB root hub. To reinstall, please perform the following steps:

Yes the USB port is working fine.
i have 4 USB port and in all 4 ports only USB Mouse is not working other USB device working fine. like (internet).
i also tested in other system to my mouse and its working fine in other system.
But i dont know why it is not working in my machine.
i have used my usb internet connection which has working fine.
The mouse is working fine sometime but only for little time (for 1 or 2 minutes). after that it has stop working and that time the red light of the mouse also get off.
Please help me if you know the solution.

As you have mentioned that the red light on the mouse goes off when it stops working, it seems that the connection between the mouse and the system is breaking.
Does the USB connector on the mouse fit snugly in the USB port? If possible, try a different USB mouse with this system. Also, did you try the steps to reinstall the USB root hubs suggested in the previous post?
