Dell U3011 displays dashed lines on screen

Hi,

The new Dell U3011 that I bought straight from the Dell website has a very weird effect. Depending on what it is displaying, it will show two horizontal dashed lines across the bottom side of the screen. They seem to show when there is a color difference in certain areas of the screen. Here is an image for your reference:

The dashed lines do not appear during the Self Test Feature Check nor the Flat Panel Built In Diagnostics. I have tried several different systems and video cards using DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort. The effect appears in every configuration. I have also tried doing a factory reset.

Is it possible to get rid of this effect or do I have to RMA it?

Thanks in advance.

Hi tehramen,

You have tried all logical troubleshooting steps and contrasting results are definitely surprising. The monitor seems to have passed the 'built in diagnostics' and points at the video card. On the contrary, the issue persists with different video cards/systems and video ports also; so the possibility of a video card failure/driver corruption is also eliminated.

I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.

I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide the monitor details so I may access your system records and check for further course of action. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.

Do reply if you have any further questions. I would be glad  to assist.

Hi tehramen,

Thank you for confirming that you have received the replacement unit. Would also like to know if it is working satisfactorily.

Please share your 'email address' (private message) so that I may send the 'return shipping labels' to you. You may print the 'return label' and use it to ship the old monitor back to Dell.

Do reply if you have any further questions. I would be glad to assist.

Hi tehramen,

Thank you for sending the 'Email address'. Glad that the replacement monitor works perfectly.

I have raised a request for a 'UPS return shipping label'; you should receive an email with the 'return label' within 24 - 48 business hours.

Hope this helps. Do reply if you have any further questions. I would be glad to assist.

Hi tehramen,

Thank you for updating me about the late return of the original monitor.

Usually, the original part/equipment needs to be returned to dell within 10 days after the receipt of the replacement unit/return label. However, I have requested the 'returns department' for extending the return time period till Saturday. I will keep you posted.

Do reply if you have nay further questions. I would be glad to assist.

Hi tehramen,

The 'return period' of your 'original monitor' has been extended till December 31, 2012. You may ship the 'monitor' back to Dell after Saturday, without any late charges.

Do reply if you have any further questions. I would be glad to assist.
