Recovery Mode for Inspiron 5520

Gents,

1) I just buy  Inspiron 5520 with Windows 8 but I dont know how get the recovery system without OS because there is no hint when the system started for recovery system.

2) I used to see if I buy a dell laptop a windows key label in the bottom but unfortunately I see only the logo windows!

3) My laptop has 1 TB Hard drive so is there any way to divide it in the recovery mode or whatever way it is?

Thanks

Hi ZAKiHussain,

The recovery mode has been replaced by “Reset your PC” feature in Windows 8.  For information on the recovery features in Windows 8, please visit the following link:
http://bit.ly/x7LQKn

Windows 8 Product Key is included in the BIOS chip on the motherboard. Hence a Windows Product Key label is not included with the laptop.

The hard drive contains a hidden recovery partition and the system is restored to the factory defaults, when the “Reset your PC” feature is used. However, you can create Recovery disks or a Recovery USB Flash drive and restore the system to factory defaults by booting from the recovery media. You can create the recovery media by clicking on the “Dell Backup and Recovery” tile on the home page and by following the onscreen instructions.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Hi Rajath N,

Thanks for your kind reply but I have more concern about Windows key. so this will be automatically added while i am installing the Windows? or is it saved some where else?

because unfortunately I had some error to restore my corrupted system so I tried to  re-install it by an activated windows-by CD-. in the same time i was forced to remove all partition  in the hard disk because I couldn't install it in any free partition! because of GPT Partition Style issue.

Thanks and Regards,

ZAKiHussain

Hi ZAKiHussain,

Thank you for your reply.  The Windows 8 Product Key is stored in the BIOS and not on the hard drive. If you have re-installed Windows 8 from a Dell installation disk, then the Product Key is automatically retrieved during the installation process.

Please let me know if you need further information.

Hi Rajath N,

So as I mention before I removed all partitions on the hard drive so I lost my copy of Dell installation so is there any way to download it from somewhere. Because I tried to install Windows 8 but since it started it became not activated!

Thanks and Regards,

Hi ZAKiHussain,

Thank you for your reply. You will need to reinstall Windows 8 using a Dell installation disk. It would read the Product Key from the BIOS and will activate Windows automatically.

I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name ‘DELL-Rajath N ’highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.

I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide the system’s Service Tag and contact details(including the name on the account) so I may access your system records and check for further course of action. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.

Hello Rajath,

I had not created Recovery of my preinstalled system. My win8 crashed and every time it boots up it shows "no bootable media found". What can be done?
