Laptop won't turn on? Please help :)

I'm extremely dense when it comes to technology... for awhile I noticed where there was a green light, the light turned red, and one night I was working on my laptop and it shut off suddenly. All the lights are off and it won't turn back on. I know it was charged, and even after attempting to charge it again, nothing worked. My guess is that maybe the battery gave out or something, and I'd have to buy a new one, but could it be anything else before I shell out the money? Again, dense at technology so navigating this website was even difficult for me... if anyone can link me to a phone number to call or anything, that would be a great help. Thank you so much.

(Also I really don't want to buy a new laptop. I'd rather save this one since it had all my pictures and work on it. Thanks.)

Hi,

I have couple of questions to understand the situation.

Is there a light on AC adapter, when it is connected to the power socket while it is disconnected from the computer?

If yes, then connect the AC adapter to the laptop and check if light on AC adapter is still glowing.

In case, in this computer if the battery is removable, try to remove the battery and connect only the AC adapter, then try to switch on the computer. This will help in isolating the problem.

Also, please provide the computer model number?

Please do write back to us with the results for the next course of action.

There is a light on the AC adapter when it's connected to the power socked while disconnected from the computer.

The light stopped glowing when I connected the adapter to the computer, and wasn't glowing when I removed the battery while having the adapter still connected to the computer. The computer wouldn't turn on at all, either.

Also I don't know the computer model number... Some kind of Asian symbols follow after where it says "Model No.". I'm not sure if this would help or not but I do have the product key number... a lot of the other numbers and words are faded since it was so old. It was a gift, bought used. Is there anything else that may help?
