Windows 8 / GeForce GT 330M Driver
Hi,
When is the new W8 driver for GeForce GT 330M GeForce 306.97 Driver going to be made available for download? It is on the nVidia website, but they say it has to be downloaded via Dell.com
I'm having problems after a W8 install. Please help!
I'm on a Vostro 64bit running 8gm RAM.
Thanks

Hi,
You can check if your computer falls under the ‘Dell Windows 8 upgrade support’ category. Please refer to the link: http://dell.to/TNPbdQ
A Dell compatible driver for GeForce GT 330M with Windows 8 has not been launched as of now. Until then, you can install Windows 8 64 bit video driver from this link: http://bit.ly/Pdu9sn
Click on ‘Agree and Download’
Follow the prompts on screen to install the video driver.
Please reply in case you have further questions.

Hi,
Vostro 3700 is also shipped with GeForce GT 330M. You can try installing the same driver from support.dell.com from link: http://dell.to/Wn72Kw
Steps to download drivers:-
If this does not work, you can try installing the same driver in compatibility mode, that may work.
Please reply with findings.

Hi Ritvars,
In order to assist you in a better way, I would need the system Service Tag to see the graphic card shipped with your computer.
I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.
I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide system’s Service Tag and contact details so I may access your system records and check for further course of action. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.
Please reply with findings.

Hi,
Thank you for your quick response.
I have recieved the Service Tag of your computer. Dell has not tested Windows 8 on Vostro 3700. For more information, you can refer to the link: http://dell.to/OQjV27
Please check the 'Device Manager' of your computer and check if there is any yellow exclamation mark under 'Display Adapters'.
Steps to check Video card under 'Device Manager':
Note: Make sure the ac adapter is connected and the battery is charged 10% or above to update the BIOS. Also, disconnect all the external peripherals before updating the BIOS. All the programs should be closed and documents saved.
Link to download and update BIOS: http://dell.to/RkuR9h
Steps to download BIOS:
Please reply with the information.

hi,
Attached device manager window.
Tried to flash BIOS, but got error „ Cannot flash to the same BIOS version. Press OK to exit.”
I think I already updated my BIOS not long ago.

I believe there are a lot Dell Vostro users facing similar problems of can't detect the GPU & hence can't upgrade driver.
But strangely, my system manage to detect the gpu hardware in 32bit (can't in 64 bit) in the Drivers&Utilities disk provided, but I can't install it on my 64bit Win8 also...
I once searching around for the solution to this problem and I found something called "force installing NVIDIA driver". It is quite complicated and I didn't follow it.
Hope this provide you enough information to identify our problems, thanks.

Hi Ritvars/Human10,
My apologies for delayed response. You can install the following drivers on your computer:
Once you install these drivers, restart your computer.
Then go to 'Device Manager' again.
Select the 'Display adapters'
Right click and uninstall the 'Intel HD graphics' and 'Microsoft basic display adapter'.
Check the box to delete the software.
Restart your computer.
Click on the link: http://dell.to/UrZ6G0 to download and install the 'Intel Graphics Media Accelerator' in compatibility mode. Once the Intel driver is installed, then re-install the Nvidia driver in compatibility mode from link: http://dell.to/Us1HQm and see if it works.
If the issue still persists, you would need to uninstall the Nvidia driver from 'Device Manager' and install the driver: http://dell.to/SRhvQm in compatibility mode.
Please reply with findings.

Perfect, did all in the sequence you told, just didnt use "compatibility mode" and when I uninstalled Intel HD graphics all wend back, so it wasnt easy to restart. but now my WIN experience index for graphic is 5,9 and gaming graphic 6,3.
Thanx a lot.
p.s. hope that there will be more simple way to do it in a while, when I will reinstall my windows 8 for example.

Hi everybody,
I have followed the steps detailed above and succeeded to install the nVidia driver on Vostro 3700 with Windows 8. However i experience some rendering issues, i reproduce it in Outlook, Visual Studio, or Chrome. When i activate a window, it isn't fully repainted, i see only some part of it, and have to reactivate or move the mouse to render everything. Does anyone have the same problem?
