XPS 15 (L502x) // Need installation discs again

Hello,

I would like to make a request if I can get the installation discs for this laptop again.

As after a driver installation error, (among many other issues) my drivers are gone, including the important one's to connect to the internet via wireless or LAN.
This means I am unable to use: https://smartsource.dell.com/web/UserForms/RegisterSystem.aspx <-- assuming it helps.

I have tried downloading the drivers from here: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/ca/en/cadhs1/ServiceTag/XXXXXX?s=dhs&~ck=mn
Moved them onto my XPS 15 laptop, and ran the programs but it also did not work.

I am out of options as I cannot find the physical copy of my CD's again.
(Yes, I have also tried to restore my laptop to a previous date before the issues but it didnt work and the option is gone now)

I am able to provide my service tag, as well it is still on Warranty.

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to the Community. If you have backed up your data, then I suggest you try a PC restore, which restores the computer back to factory settings. Use the below link for help.

Let me know if this helps.

Thank you.

Hi AlphaEtOmega,

The link that you were unable to use (https://smartsource.dell.com/web/UserForms/RegisterSystem.aspx) is the link for My dell downloads. It has a list of software’s that were shipped with your computer. It would not have drivers in it.

This link for My dell downloads would only work on Internet explorer browser not on any other browser. If you are using Internet explorer browser already, try resetting the internet explorer.

Please follow below mentioned steps to reset IE:

  • Close all Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer windows that are currently open.
  • Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Internet Explorer, and then, in the list of results, click Internet Explorer.
  • Click the Tools button, and then click Internet options.
  • Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset.
Select the Delete personal settings check box if you would also like to remove browsing history, search providers, Accelerators, home pages, Tracking Protection, and ActiveX Filtering data.
  • In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset.
  • When Internet Explorer finishes applying default settings, click Close, and then click OK.
  • Close Internet Explorer.

Your changes will take effect the next time you open Internet Explorer.

Since you have mentioned that the downloaded drivers did not work, I request you to private message system service tag number, Owners name and contact number. To private message, accept my friend request; click on my user name and click start conversation.  Since the computer is in warranty I can send you disks.

Awaiting your response!

Hello, Dell_Rajesh_R

Before I provide any information via Private Message.

How can I confirm that you are an actual dell representative?

I was looking at  'DELL-Royan S' post and noticed his 'DELL' was in capitals as well, he had a logo in his signature.

My apologies for the paranoia.
