Bios update from A13 to A19

Hi Appolon,

Dell recommends applying A19 update during your next scheduled update cycle. The update contains feature enhancements or changes that will help keep your system software current and compatible with other system modules.

But as you said the present version of BIOS in the system is A13, I recommend doing a BIOS update step by step by updating from A13 to A14, A14 to A16, A16 to A17, A17 to A18, and A18 to A19.

Click on the below BIOS version to update BIOS:

BIOS A14

BIOS A16

BIOS A17

BIOS A18

BIOS A19

• During BIOS update verify that the computer is connected to an AC Adapter.
• Disconnect any third party peripherals connected to the computer before performing BIOS update. 
• Do not turn off the computer during the BIOS update.
• Do not restart the computer during the BIOS update.

Note: Plug your computer to a good, working walljack before you update the BIOS. If you experience a loss of AC power or a significant voltage sag/spike during the BIOS flash, you will either have to buy a new BIOS chip or buy a new motherboard.

Also, you have posted about USB 3.0 Ports loose. Is it not working or is the port loose on the computer?

 Rajesh  Really thanks...for your "so quick" response.

   The "problem" with usb3 ports I had from when I bought the laptop.
....During the time I'm working suddenly I'm loosing the port.
 Most when I am using both ports. Then, sometimes the system find them again,
 other times I have to unplug...reboot..and then is o.k again.
...Few times I have to reboot many times...and become..difficult to have the system stable.
...This last case it happens most when I have plug in many usb devices (with a hub)

  Now I am planning to update drivers and (maybe) to clean install W7.
 I am little "afraid" for what I'll face because it'll be the first time I'll do this procedure.
  Also (for to be honest), I read so many posts from people complaining for compatibility issues...
 and problems with drivers and bios and more...that I "got"... "paranoia"...
  Anyway....I made recovering disks and a W7 image so I'll give a try.

   About the bios now.
  Please please...let me understand if you know a) why is good to follow this order you suggest?
 I mean A14, A16, A17..etc ?  Is the first time I hear something like this.
  Also I read many posts that they destroy their systems with A14 version. Not compatibility in drivers and more..
 Did they fix it? I know nothing about, I'm just asking.
   Also if I clean install W7, will I have to update bios before or after the installation?

   Please answer to all my question...(in what it helps the bios series..etc.) is so important to know what I'll be doing..
 because "somehow", now is o.k my system...and I'll feel very stupid if I'll make it worst or unbootable!

 Thank you for explanations about bios. They help me to understand why I'll be doing so...

(I know sometimes, we make you tired with "simple questions".., but you could excuse...if you

think that often we are getting so "different and opposite" suggestions...which bring "confusion"..

 An example that you understand. For the "correct order" installing drivers for xpsl702x

Others suggest for first -Dell's support soft., others -chipset Huron River, others -Chipset Renesas...

 and all is here in Dell's site!...)

  If you know about, you could give me any "idea"...what I have to do, because nobody answer me.

Id suggest you undoubtedly re-install your'e operating system from CD.  with A13 Bios. got to Dell website and download A19 Bios. install that, it'll ask you to close all programs before continuing. after click "Ok" after it is complete it restarts your'e computer and you now have A19 Bios.

Ram 4gb DDR2 2.20hz

I want to upgrade mine to 8gbs of ram but its pricey, also need to upgrade my cpu to at least 3.0ghz if laptop can handle which I heard it can. Id be happy with 2.50.. mom has 3gbs ram 2.50ghz and it runs smoothly on a Inspirion 530s Desktop PC she just got 2 years ago. 

(BTW.. not bragging just happy got computer to what I want so far. Id advise buying some more ram and cpu and computer will move quickly with that A19 Bios update.)
